With a career spanning over 45 years of commitment and dedication to excellence and the highest degrees of honesty and integrity in both the public and private sectors, Mark is seen as the “go-to” professional for corporations and organizations that are undergoing significant transformation, dramatic change and crisis situations. Mark is a highly experienced Executive and Security Professional with a long-demonstrated history of success and achievement in all aspects of Security, Investigations and Risk Management.
Prior to forming GSI- Geraci Security & Investigative Consultants LLC, Mark spent nearly 14 years as the Vice President & Chief Security Officer at Purdue Pharma where he was a member of the company’s Executive Committee, Audit Committee and IT Security Council. While at Purdue, as stated by it’s CEO, “Mark compassionately managed issues affecting our workplace;” “[s]et the tone of security across the company;” “ Mark’s positive impact went well beyond our walls;” and “In addition to being a consummate professional and a class act, Mark is known for his disarming and approachable manner, which has helped build bridges across the company at all levels.”
Mark’s experience also includes over 27 years at Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS), with his last 19 years as Senior Director-Corporate Security. At both Purdue and BMS, he set the strategic direction and management of all aspects of Security, including Investigations, Supply Chain Security, Threat and Risk mitigation, Brand Protection, Anti-Counterfeiting/Diversion, Export Control, Physical and Travel Security, Business Continuity, Executive Protection and DEA Compliance. Mark began his career as a Special Investigator with the New York State Attorney General’s Office for Medicaid and Health Care Fraud.
With his considerable and highly regarded leadership and interpersonal skills, Mark made numerous significant and positive contributions to organizations such as ASIS International where he was elected and served for many years on its Board of Directors, eventually becoming ASIS President and then Chairman of the Board. He also served as ASIS’s White Collar Crime Committee Chairman and for 10 years as Chairman of the ASIS Standards & Guidelines Commission. He also was President of the FBI- InfraGard Long Island Chapter and President of the Old Field Club, on two separate occasions.
Considered a highly accomplished investigator, interviewer and Forensic Accountant, often called upon to handle the most sensitive and complex matters, Mark is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), a Board (ASIS) Certified Protection Professional (CPP) in Security Management, and a New York State Licensed Private Investigator.
Mark is a two-time recipient of ASIS’s President’s Award of Merit for Outstanding Leadership &
Contributions to the organization and in 2012 received the Federal Law Enforcement Association (FLEOA) National Civilian Award for his significant assistance to Federal Law Enforcement in addressing critical pharmaceutical industry crime. He is a Yale-Stimson Fellow with the University's Center for International and Area Studies.
Mark holds an MBA in Management, a BS in Accounting and a BAA in Criminal Justice.
